Meaning of Altitude:-

  • The long lasting feelings, beliefs and behavioral tendencies directed towards specific people, group, ideas, issues, or objects is called Attitudes.
  • The way of person feels about and disposed towards some object is called Attitude. An external stage of person that is focused on objects, events and people that can exist in the person's psychological world is called attitude.
  • It can be said that attitudes are other types of individual differences that affect behavior.

Components of Attitude:-

People often think attitude as a simple concept. In reality, attitude and their effects on behavior can be extremely Complex. Components of attitude never function separately.

The interplay of a person's cognitive, emotional and behavioral tendencies to something i.e. another persons, group, event or issues is called Attitude.


1.Cognitive component:-

The belief, opinions, Knowledge and information held by the individual are cognitive components. Cognition is related to extracting meaning from acquired information. Knowledge, wisdom and intellect help to convert acquired information to meaning. Attitude is results of human thought. Human makes attitudes to an object, event and individual according to their belief and perception.

2.Emotional component:-

The feelings, moods, emotions about some persons, ideas, event or object are components of attitude. These influence attitudes. These components make good or bad, positive or negative attitude on individual about something.


3.Behavioral Components:-

The predispositions to act on a favorable or unfavorable evaluation of something are behavioral components of attitude. Any behaviors shown by a person can be said behavioral components of attitudes. People show behavior according to type of attitude they kept to target.


Types of attitude related to job:-

A person can have thousands of attitudes but organizational behavior study focuses on limited numbers of fob related attitudes. Most of the research in ob has been concerned in three attitudes.


1.Job satisfaction:-

In the OB literature, job satisfaction is related to favorable or positive emotional state of mind towards his or her job. It expresses the amount of agreement between one's expectations of the job and reward that job provides to him. A high level of job satisfaction score indicates a positive attitude towards the job and vice-versa. The following elements influence on job satisfaction.

An employee's attitude towards being loyal to their working organization is called organizational Commitment. It is an attachment towards organization.
