Importance of Perception:-

1.Boosting Performance:-

Perception helps to know environment, human, structure and technology in organization and how they interact with each other. Understanding these things assists in enhancing individual performance which boosts organizational performance too.

2.Makes Life Easy:-
Perception helps to make our daily life easy. Our view towards surroundings influences our ideas, reactions, responses, attitudes and behavior. Such view about surroundings comes through perception. Perception helps to understand situations, patterns and situations and related each other.

Perception helps to understand management, employees and other stakeholders. Due to which industrial relationship gets better as a result communication becomes better among them. Better communication makes us understand the tasks to be done.

Sub-process of perception:-

The several sub processes of perception shows that perception is not an easy process. It is complicated process and feature wise it is inter linked to each other. These sub processes are concerned with each other. Perceptual process of human goes through several sub-processes.

(1).Stimulus or Situation:-
It is the initial sub-process of perception. Physical environment and socio-cultural environment are major stimulus in the context of organization. Physical environment consists of office, factory floor, laboratory, store and climate etc. Socio-cultural environment consists of management styles, discrimination and values etc. These are stimulus for employee's perception. Stimulus is considered first sub process of perception it is because employee only thinks about that information which is important for this process.

 (2).Confrontation:-
When people are confronted with internal or external stimuli, they start perceiving. This confrontation may provide feeling of immediate sensual stimulation or total physical and cultural environment. Perception starts there where employee confronted with specific stimulus. For example they confronted with supervisor or new procedure and they start making new perception.  Perception begins after interacting with stimulus or situation.

(3).Recording:-
Recording or registration of stimulus received from surroundings is done in human brain. Stimuli creates situation to be perceived and people perceive through sensory and neural mechanism. Finally, perception is recorded at brain. Physical mechanism such as listening, hearing, etc. play active role in the perception of individual.

(4).Explanation:-
Explanation or Interpretation is a mental process. The received stimulus are evaluated and analyzed during this sub-process. Interpretation depends upon the motivation, learning and personality of people. Interpretation of subject matter is done on the same base. For example: Interpretation of specific situation in organization done by employees depends upon his motivation, qualification and personality

(5).Feedback:-
Feedback is certain responses shown by people to stimulus or environmental situation. Feedback influences on perception of people. It helps to reach at certain conclusions and certain behavioral reactions can be exposed. For example if supervisor praises (feedback) the work of an employee, then he thinks that supervisor is happy (perception) with his performance.

(6).Behavior:-
Response on such perception is seen on behavior and body due to order of mind. For example:- Red face when scolded by manager and happy face due to appreciation of manager. Response can be overt or covert, positive or negative:-
(i). Overt/Covert response:-
Hidden responses in the mind are called overt. Externally shown responses through body expression and speaking are called covert.
(ii).Positive/Negative response:-
If analysis of information provides the feelings of happiness and joy by matching needs and interests of one, such person shows positive response. If information is against his needs and interests, that person shows negative responses.

(7). Consequences:-
The sub process of perception influence how we perceive and interact with people in organization and can lead to adaptive and maladaptive responses. It impacts on behavior, cognition, emotions, interactions, biases and prejudices. Positive perception of employee towards organization brings better performance.
